AROUND THE FARM

Our little slice of heaven is an ever evolving adventure. Over the last couple of years we have invested a lot of time, energy and other resources converting our personal residence into a place many people could enjoy riding and caring for horses. Beyond just our clients, lesson students and horses you will often see our other four legged friends: Reagan, Moseley, Willis and our resident mini and farm favorite, Jemimah. Take some time to explore our property, family and friends below.

THE CREEKS

Our farm is blessed to have natural watersheds. We have one large creek and one small creek that join at the north side of our property. Both creeks are primarily rock bottom and vary in depth depending on the time of year. While they are ascetically pleasing, they have a fun and practical use as well. We often use the creeks to familiarize our horses to water features/obstacles. It also makes for a great way to cool off in the summer or a pretty backdrop for pictures!

 FAMILIAR FACES

The grounds doesn’t run by itself, it take a crew of dedicated individuals to make sure things are operating correctly.

ANNIE BRIGHT PROFFITT

  • OWNER/OPERATOR

  • ADVANCED RIDER INSTRUCTOR

  • HORSE WHISPERER

A little bio on Annie Bright Proffitt
(as told by her husband because she is WAY to humble)

Annie has been on horseback nearly her whole life. She has successfully competed on the A-Circuit in Hunters and Jumpers, but has since focused her career on Eventing over the last 6 years. She loves teaching lessons to both adults and kids- her enthusiasm for horses and riding is truly contagious. Everyone around her picks up on her passion for not only the horse but for the rider.

What separates her from the average instructor is her desire to teach the student to not only ride, but to properly care for a horse. She has a eye that sees things most instructors don't. Watching her kids versus others at shows always makes me so proud. She really makes an impact on these kids riding ability, responsibility and ultimately their lives as a whole.

Bottom line all of this is not only her passion but her life. Countless nights I wonder whether I'll come home to a barn slumber party, or her helping one of her students study for their upcoming school test. Or even her spending hours (an i mean hours) on end searching for the right horse, the perfect saddle or the best boots for one of her students. It amazes me the lengths she will go for her students. She is hands down a top tier person, top tier instructor and a top tier equestrian.

-Ross K. Proffitt
Husband/Head Horse Treat Giver

ROSS PROFFITT

  • VP OF HORSE ACQUISITION

  • VP OF BROODMARE MANAGEMENT

  • HEAD OF TREAT GIVING OPERATIONS

  • HUSBAND (DO WHAT ANNIE SAYS)

Unlike Annie, horses were never in the picture for Ross. That all changed when he met his future wife, Annie. When the decision came to start the business, Ross knew he had to leverage his skills to best help to farm operate effectively. Taking his 2-3 years of intense treat feeding experience, to horses of all types, he was a clear asset to the start-up business. Over time he worked his way into more responsibility including most recently Everbright’s latest venture, Broodmares.

Willis.JPG

WILLIS

  • PARKING ATTENDANT

  • HEAD OF SECURITY

Known as the white blur, Willis is kept under-control at ALL times. His passion for his job is only surpassed by his passion of jailbreaking.

You will no doubt see or hear him as you arrive at the barn as his main job is to ward off intruders and/or frighten guests with his substantial fluff.

Willis has recently expanded his role outside the perimeter.

REAGAN

  • BARN MANAGER

  • Asst. to the VP of Horse ACqusition

  • Advanced Lesson Instructor

  • Gravel & Pest Management

A familiar face indeed, Reagan has been a staple at the barn, feed store, tack store, Sonic, the gas station, Kentucky horse shopping etc. This all purpose pup is normally not to far from Annie during their daily chores and errands. While Reagan is not busy assisting with lessons, she is making sure the gravel is behaving, the ground is aerated and or that any spare food is disposed of properly.

While she is cute and cuddly in the house, on the farm grounds she takes her job very seriously. She typically doesn’t have time to be picked up and pampered.

Mose1.jpg

MOSELEY

  • Human Resources Manager

  • WE AREN’T REALLY SURE WHAT SHE DOES

Moseley may look like a Fox Red Labrador, but her spirit animal is a Willis. Raised by the Willis, she carries a lot of his same instinctive responsibilities. She is also very environmentally conscious and will selflessly spend hours picking up trash on the side of the highway.

Her official part-time role consists of being the dedicated horse show dog and tackling the business’ HR challenges. She is typically very overwhelmed by her strenuous workload and will cope by stealing something you left out and likely eat it or hide it. Please don’t bring this to her attention as her mental challenge is protected under HIPAA.

She also represents Everbright at most shows that Annie goes to during the year. She loves attention and is more than willing to be pet or played with when she graces the barn with her presence.

MINI REAGANS

  • Summer Interns

As it became clear the Moseley was going to be more of a work in progress, the board of directors approved bringing on two interns.

When HR (currently Moseley), was putting together the “ideal candidate description” she kept coming back to how perfect her big sister Reagan was at all things Everbright.

“If only we had three of her,” Moseley proclaimed, “maybe I could cut back on some of my responsibilities.” It was an accurate statement. In fact three Reagans would get things running a bit smoother and yes perhaps Moseley could shed some of her overwhelming responsibilities. But THREE Reagans? How could we ever accomplish that?

Well just like a scene out of a Disney movie, Reagan met an eligible prince - Prince Leo (first of his name) from the great country of Hungary. As an expansionary claim to her growing empire, Reagan produced two heirs and subsequently… summer interns.

From time-to-time you may see them around if they can get away from the mundane filing work they have in the office. If you are lucky enough to catch them around the barn - please let them be, they are trying to get hired on as full time employees.

Be warned - full black mask mini Reagan is taking an online martial arts course. She practices her kill moves ANY chance she gets. No one really knows her true identity beneath the mask. Tri-color mask mini Reagan is a master manipulator and semi-professional expeditionist, she has already staked claim to newly found parts of southern Everbright.
